In April - May 2020 simevo s.r.l. co-founder Paolo Greppi will teach the excellence course The digital transformation in the process industry at Politecnico di Torino (Italy) within the Doctorate Research in Chemical Engineering programme.

The course will present how the digital transformation (Industry 4.0) may happen in the process industry, covering core technologies and impacts with a multi-disciplinary approach at the cross-point between process engineering, information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT).

On a technical level the course will offer an overview of the core technologies involved in the digital transformation in general: networks, protocols, cryptography, block-chains, first-principle modeling and data-driven models.

On a non-technical level we’ll try to extrapolate the impacts on legal, organizations, and business models.

On a practical level, we’ll cover the available commercial and open source tools and technologies, and try to decode the marketese: cloud, big data, Artificial Intelligence …
